New paper released corroborates earlier findings on use of EndoFLIP for assessment of achalasia treatment

26th February 2013

A new paper Distensibility of the esophagogastric junction assessed with the functional lumen imaging probe (FLIP™) in achalasia patients by John E. Pandolfino et al from Northwestern University has been published. This paper describes the use of EndoFLIP in assessing the gastroesophgeal junction after achalasia treatment. The results of this study strongly corroborate those of Rohof et al. published in Gastroenterology in 2012. In particular both groups propose an almost identical cut-off value for prediction of success of treatment, namely a distensibility of 2.8 to 2.9mm2/mmHg).
