First published paper describes use of EndoFLIP in assessment of Gastroparesis

A new paper has been published shows very good correlation between distensibility and symptoms in patients with Gastroparesis. It hypothesizes that EndoFLIP may be used to select which patients are likely to benefit from Botox or Dilation. This paper and previous abstracts appear to demonstrate a much wider range of values for pylorus distensibility in the diseased and normal states, as compared with Achalasia where the GEJ tends to be universally tight, and the authors thus suggest that not all Gastroparesis patients appear to have problems because of sphincter distensibility (it may be antral motility etc. that is the issue and not the sphincter, in which case dilation might serve no useful purpose).
